'Where's the party'American singer Louise Veronica Ciccone (Michigan, 1958) made her first gig in Barcelona in August 1, 1990 as part of The Blonde Ambition Tour. She stayed at Ramada Reinassance Hotel (now Le Méridien) in La Rambla, where she and her entourage occupied 180 of the 208 rooms of the establishment. She demanded to enable a room in the Presidential Suite as a gym. During her stay in the city, every morning she ran several kilometers accompanied by her eight bodyguards.

'Causing a commotion'The movements of the blond ambition were carefully followed by both fans and the press. She visited Antoni GaudÃ’s gems and took a walk through the Picasso Museum. However, the most commented news was the behavior of some of her bodyguards with local press. Thus, the day before the concert - and after the mandatory running session in La Rambla - a photojournalist from the newspaper El Periódico was given a hard punch by one of the diva's gorillas. An attitude that had already been repeated in London.

'Material Girl'Since her first show in 1990, Madonna has included Barcelona in almost all of her tours. She has also taken into account this hotel in La Rambla, if not for her, for many of her collaborators. Hence, the establishment can boast of having the bed where the pop queen slept. And also the pop king, since Michael Jackson occupied the same suite during 1988 Bad Tour. He booked 58 rooms. A few days before, American singer Bruce Springsteen stayed at the same hotel but he only "only" booked 57.
