Architecture Week 2018 to welcome La Modelo former prison as a guest space.
From May 10 to 20 Barcelona celebrates Architecture Week 2018. This event seeks bringing together architecture and citizens in a “fun, didactic and amusing” way. Barcelona City Council has announced that the former prison of La Modelo will be the guest space of this edition. Thus, it will host part of the activities of the program, as well as a musical performance.
Architecture Week 2018 has prepared an agenda full of talks, conferences, routes through representative buildings Barcelona and audiovisual projections. One of them is the 10 days / 10 districts with urban renewal itinerary, which will explain how the Cerdà Plan, the housing estates of the sixties or Vila OlÃmpica revolutionized the urban landscape. On the other hand, the transformation process of La Modelo as well as the future of this space to be discussed too.
Activities
Not only there will be guided tours to the old prison, but to the Bessòs Water Tower, the Pavelló de la República or the Fà brica del Sol. As for family activities, children will think about city design watching Zootropolis and the need to find new consum patterns in Wall-E. You can check the complete program on the Ajuntament website.
Architecture Week 2018 is an initiative of  Barcelona City Council, ​​the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, in collaboration with Barcelona Building Construmat and ArquinFAD.
