Paint the town green and find a Guinness hat because Saint Patrick’s Day is here and these are the best Irish pubs in Barcelona to celebrate it!

Music, beer, funny hats… No, this is not about an ordinary weekend. This March 17th Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated, a party that longer belongs exclusively to Ireland. This is, in part, because of the XIX Century Great Potato Famine, which forced thousands of people to leave their land to escape death. In order to maintain their roots they started celebrating this party in cities like Boston, Sydney or London. The other point of the reasoning is that there is always a reason to grab some beers. If you don’t have plans for these days, have a look at these Irish pubs in Barcelona.

George Payne

Address: Plaça d’Urquinaona, 5

The George Payne is a pub with a lot of things to say (and sing!). To begin with, it is called like a famous porn actor and three football players (one Australian and two English). To continue, it is located at an old adult cinema and to round off, it is one of the most fun loving spots in Barcelona. We can’t think of a better place to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day  than in one of the most authentic Irish and beer brewers in the city. Remember: no Payne no gain!

The Wild Rover Irish Pub

Address: Santa Monica street, 2.

The Wild Rover refers to a 16th century folk song that today has become a theme for brewers. Learn the lyrics because this March 17th there is live music here at 20:00 and it is 100% sure they will play it. They’ll also give for free Guinness hats and face painting so you can dress for the occasion.

Shenanigans Irish Pub

Address: carrer del Marquès de Barberà, 11.

Pay attention because if there are leprechauns in Barcelona, surely they are here. Shenanigan is an English word that means cheating or mischief, precisely the specialty of these bearded pixies. In Saint Patrick’s Day this bar is distributing mythical Guinness hats, pints cost 4 euros and there’ll be prizes (no gold cauldrons under the rainbow, promise).

My Bar

Address: Carrer de Ferran, 8

One of the best things about this place is that it is one of the few Irish pubs in Barcelona with a terrace, which is a point considering that spring is coming. If you had to describe it with a word it’d be wood: in the bar, in the chairs, the tables, the stools … If you’re done with Guinness, here you have an interesting offer of craft and international beers that are worth trying.
