Temperatures get soften, cherry trees bloom and there is a special atmosphere on the street. We tell you how to enjoy Barcelona in April, a month marked by one of our most beloved parties: Sant Jordi.
The Barcelona Comic Fair
From April 12th to 15th, comic lovers have an unmissable date at Fira de Montjuïc with the 36th edition of The Barcelona Comic Fair. This year pays homage to the Spanish authors who drew the last quarter of the 20th century. You only have to see the poster, designed by Jan, the creator of Superlópez. Once again, the event will feature numerous cultural activities aimed at the art of creating vignettes, such as exhibitions, conferences, signatures of authors and workshops. In addition, this year the Comic Kids section is incorporated, a space to future readers.
Other events and salons
Other events to consider are Alimentaria 2018 (Fira de Barcelona, ​​April 16-19), the leading food, beverage and gastronomy fair in the country; the Fira per la Terra (Parc Central de Nou Barris, 21 and 22 April) that promotes local and sustainable production) or Arts Libris at Arts Santa Mónica (21-13 April). This International Book Fair of Contemporary Artist and Edition, a meeting with writers, publishers and artists seeking to publicize their works. Finally, the CCCB and the MACBA join to prepare Món Llibre (April 14 and 15), the literary festival focused on children and young people.
Exhibitions
You can enjoy very interesting exhibitions in Barcelona in April. Until June 24th, the Caixa Forum hosts Disney: the art of telling stories. 215 pieces showing the process that Disney used to convert stories, myths, fables and legends into movies.
On the other hand, the CCCB hosts from April 28 to May 27 World Press Photo 2018, the most important photojournalism exhibition in the world. A picture is worth a thousand words and nothing like this occasion to reflect on the most important events of the last year. (Venezuelan crisis, Europe attacks or the fall of Mosul).
Other outstanding exhibitions of the month are Arts & Crafts at the MNAC (until May 20), which illustrates an entire movement that emerged in response to the alignment and materialism of the Industrial Revolution; Mujeres Artistas Today at the MEAM (until April 29) an exhibition of national artists, painters and sculptors to consider or Rosemarie Castoro: focus on infinity (until April 15) at the MACBA. It is the first major retrospective on a key artist of Minimalism.
Concerts and festivals
Barcelona in April is also filled with music. During this month, artists such as Imagine Dragons (April 6), Roger Waters (April 13-14), Lana del Rey (April 19) and Arcade Fire (April 21) to perform in the city.
As for the festival scene, from April 5 to 7 there is the third edition of Barcelona Psych Fest at the Upload room, focused on psychedelic music, britpop and post punk. Do not miss the 40 edition of Telecogresca in the Parc del Forum on April 14 and 15.
Feria de Abril
How to ignore the Andalusian spirit of Barcelona! From April 27 to May 6, the city dresses in faralaes to celebrate a party with a southern flavor. It will be at Fòrum park and, of course, there will be rebujito and pescaÃto frito.
