Sant Jordi
On April 23rd Sant Jordi, patron of Catalonia, is celebrated. It coincides with the International Book Day and according to tradition, Â lovers must exchange books and roses. For this reason, the streets of Barcelona are flooded in red roses and parades. It is, without a doubt, one of the most special and romantic event of the year.
Escape from the city
Visit GaudÃ’s crypt at Colonia Güell, the church where Gaudà experimented with the techniques that he applied when designing Sagrada Familia. D’A Film Festival 2018
Festival Internacional de Cinema d’Autor (auteur cinema film festival) is held from April 26 to May 6. One hundred key works of contemporary cinema will be screened at Centre de Cultura Contemporà nia (CCCB). A good time to discover trends and emerging talents beyond Hollywood’s blockbusters.
World Press Photo Exhibition 2018
From April 28th to May 27th CCCB hosts the most important photojournalism exhibition in the world. The Catalan capital to be one of the first cities to show this sample composed by 134 images illustrating a 2017 highlighted by the Venezuela crisis, Syria war or London, Stockholm and Barcelona attacks. This year’s claim is #seeingisunderstanding. CCCB is also screening the winning documentaries of the Digital Narrative Contest.
Museum’s Night
On May 19th Barcelona holds La Nit dels Museus (Museum’s  Night). It is a great opportunity to enjoy the city’s main museums in a different and original way. From 7:00 pm until dawn you can attend a wide range of conferences, guided tours, concerts and workshops. Not to mention those centers that open their doors and collections so you can enjoy them. Architecture Week 2018
From May 10th- 20th you have an appointment with architecture.This event is focused in Barcelona’s urban landscape and how it affects citizens in their daily lifes. Barcelona and architecture are two concepts that go hand in hand, a relationship that this year coincides with the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Primavera Sound and Sónar Barcelona
They are the most important music festivals in Barcelona. Primavera Sound is celebrated from May 30th to June 3rd at Parc Fòrum  but the CCCB is organizing Primavera al Raval. It is a series of free concerts for those who couldn’t attend the festival or unsatisfied indies and hipsters who can’t assume the end of their moment. There will be artists such as Rhye, Waxahatchee and Oblivians or The Suicide of Western Culture. As for Sónar Festival, the experimental electronic music event par excellence, is held from June 14th-18th at Fira de Barcelona. One more year, it will also include workshops, exhibitions and conferences linked to this event.
