This week there is Tast a La Rambla, a true gastronomic festival full of tapas, dishes, Asian and fusion cuisine.

Tast a La Rambla is the foodie version of Primavera Sound: quality of the proposals is exquisite, covers all kinds of genres, invades your friend’s Instagram stories and, above all, there is never enough. From June 7th to 10th you can enjoy the best gastronomic experience of the year thanks to the best restaurants in La Rambla, Barcelona main street.

This fifth edition is composed by 60 restaurants and 74 chefs, which is a great opportunity to try the best proposals of La Rambla and surroundings. These are distributed in these sections: tapas competition, tapas and platillos, traditional cuisine, pastry island, author cuisine and Asia street food, the great novelty of this year. Don’t get mad, we tell you the main stops. Forks up!

5th Tapas Competition

One of the favorite activities of Tast a La Rambla. For € 4 you can try the main tapa of the most popular bars and restaurants of the walk accompanied by a vermouth. The TOP ones are patatas baby with alioli and brava sauce from Palau Moja, Bar Pinotxo empedrat or Tablao Cordobés’ salmorejo. On June 7th the winner tapa will be announced. Yummy, yummy.

Tapas and platillos

Perfect to share among a few. Try Pepa Tomate’s homemade meatballs with sofrito and parmentier or influencer’s favorite appetizer at Joëls Oyster Bar. Don’t forget the roast cannelloni with truffled bechamel sauce, a creation by Andalusian Quillo Bar.

Traditional cuisine

One of the elements that make La Rambla a unique street are the centenary restaurants that have written its history. A mandatory stop whether you’re going with family or vintage attitude. Fonda Espanya’s gilthead, the oxtail meatballs with perretxikos of Amaya Restaurant or the rice with foie gras and oricios of El chigre 1769 are a true back in time journey.

Author cuisine

Don’t be scared by the name. Remember someone has to experiment to create the meals you eat at those expensive gastro bars. If you have an adventurous palate, try mixing octopus and pork in a sandwich (Sofia Be so) or A Restaurant’s poached egg, shrimp fricassée, creamy pumpkin and Espelette. Maybe you fancy ray from Madrid (a city with no beach) of La Barra Carles Abellan. No flavor will be the same again.

Asia Street Food

With so much bao, ramen, sushi and raw fish it was obvious that Tast a La Rambla 2018 had to include a section of Asian cuisine. Peking Duck bikini by Kao Dim Sum, Bao Bar’s Shanghai or the samosas of Tandoor will guide you in this exciting journey across the continent. By the way, this year Dos Palillos restaurants celebrates its tenth anniversary, so it will celebrate with workshops and activities focused on Asian folklore.

Pastry Island

We leave the best to the end… the dessert! Of course, Tast a La Rambla also has proposals for sugar lovers. It completes the experience with the Escribà cannolis, the Primavera 5.0 of Oriol Balaguer or the tartaleta “Frida” of Le Sucré Coeur.
